On November, 24, the Saturday After Thanksgiving, Ginny and I, along with 200,000 other people, viewed Jacksonville's 23 annual Boat Parade. The crowds lined both banks of the St Johns River for miles as more than 70 decorated boats passed in review between the Main Street Bridge and the Acosta Bridge in Downtown Jacksonville. A fireworks display, set off from barges in the river and from both bridges, followed the parade. Reflections from the water and from downtown office building windows tripled the effect of each firework blast, and local radio stations played carols over public speakers.
